Report from Oak Knoll Bookfest XX

Still in Chestertown, Maryland but thought I’d share a few notes and pics from the fair. First off, I’m happy to report success! If you are interested in the latest Breon Mitchell translation of In the Penal Colony you may wish to inquire soon as I now only have six copies left available and will be holding at least two of them for CODEX coming up next February in Berkeley.

I didn’t have time to take many pictures during the fair and none were all that good so here’s some random shots of New Castle, DE and pleasantries surrounding the exhibit and symposium. Included are James Dissette, my partner with Mad Parrot Press (formerly Chester River Press), my good friend Graham Moss (Incline Press) giving his lecture of 25 years at his Incline Press.

Also, a silly picture of a bunch of us never-do-well printers staying at the ever charming Terry House Bed & Breakfast. At the table appears counter-clockwise: Gaylord Shanlinak (Midnight Paper Sales), Annie Schlechter, David Esslemont (Solmentes Press), Elies Plana AyatsNancy Loeber and Russell Maret – proper representation at the table from 3 countries here on the Eastern seaboard hawking books.

Finding myself pretty well prepared for Oak Knoll next weekend I decided to crank out another binding of the book yesterday and opted to make a drop spine box for it as well.

This copy is bound on Iowa PC4 straps and quarter bound with Harmatan goat and gelatin sized flax Cave Paper with a matte silver foil title & dull black foil author attribution on the cover, the endpapers are offset printed Cartiere Magnani Revere.

10 1/8 x 13 1/4 x 5/8″ (25.5 x 33.5 x 1.6cm) without box or slipcase.
