The Mad Angler’s Manifesto upcoming release party

The release party for “The Mad Angler’s Manifesto” by Michael Delp is turning into quite the event. I’ve recently agreed to offer my books and broadsides at Landmark Books, a new rare and modern firsts bookstore nearby in Traverse City. This event will also be a grand opening for Landmark Books and also a benefit for the organization FLOW – water protection advocates here in Michigan. A portion of all sales this evening will go directly to the fresh water stewardship activities of FLOW.

We’ve got local vineyards with vino, appetizers coming from some fantastic eateries right in the Mercato and even music, cello anyone?

Saturday, November 9th, 5-8pm at the Commons in Traverse City, 1200 West 11th, Suite 116    231-632-4151

Meanwhile, here’s a video Michael made public this morning, aptly titled
The Mad Angler Speaks Truth to Politicians:

A Seamus Heaney token

Seamus Heaney passed away in August and I’ve been meaning to find time to make a little piece as a tribute to him. This little poem is from his book The Death of a Naturalist published in 1966 by Faber & Faber, his first major book release. While Digging may be a piece that is often quoted or printed, it’s still one of my favorites. Maybe because of my own childhood memories of digging potatoes or perhaps because now I look at the vast contrast my life and profession has as compared to my father or grandfather. Heaney dug with his pen and I dig with my 26 soldiers of lead.
